14 साल बाद होने जा रही देश की सबसे बड़ी प्रशासनिक कवायद जनगणना को लेकर देहरादून नगर निगम की कसरत भी तेज हो गई है। बताया जा रहा है कि इस बार जनगणना की प्रक्रिया पूरी तरह डिजिटल और पेपरलेस होने जा रही है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, दून नगर निगम क्षेत्र में आगामी जनवरी 2026 से जनगणना प्रक्रिया शुरू हो सकती है। नगर निगम के 100 वार्डों का गूगल डिजिटल मैप तैयार कर जनगणना निदेशालय को भेजा जा चुका है। इस बार गिनती कलम और कागज़ नहीं, बल्कि टैबलेट और मोबाइल के जरिये होगी।
इस बार जनगणना कर्मी घर-घर जाकर जानकारी तो लेंगे, लेकिन सारी रिपोर्ट आनलाइन फीड करेंगे। यानी गिनती होगी मैदानी स्तर पर और नियंत्रण रहेगा नोडल विभाग के अधिकारियों के पास। इससे कर्मचारियों की जवाबदेही तय होगी और फर्जीवाड़े की संभावना पर अंकुश लगेगा। नगर निगम क्षेत्र के डिजिटल मैप में प्रत्येक वार्ड की सीमा, मोहल्ले, भवन और लोकेशन का सटीक विवरण दर्ज किया गया है। साथ ही गूगल पर रजिस्टर्ड स्कूल, अस्पताल, व्यवसायिक प्रतिष्ठान और मकान भी इस मैप में दिखाई देंगे। अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, यह मैप आगे चलकर स्मार्ट सिटी और शहरी विकास योजनाओं के लिए भी उपयोगी रहेगा। नगर निगम के सभी 100 वार्डों को पांच ब्लाक में बांट दिया गया है। इसी के आधार पर एक सिरे से कार्रवाई शुरू की जाएगी।

देहरादून नगर निगम क्षेत्र में पिछली जनगणना वर्ष 2011 में हुई थी, जब आबादी आठ लाख दर्ज की गई थी। वर्ष 2021 में प्रस्तावित जनगणना कोरोना महामारी के कारण टल गई। अब अनुमान लगाया जा रहा है कि नगर निगम क्षेत्र की मौजूदा आबादी 14 लाख से अधिक हो सकती है। जनवरी 2025 के निगम चुनाव में ही 7.67 लाख मतदाता दर्ज थे, जिससे इस अनुमान को बल मिला है।
