चिपको आंदोलन की प्रणेता गौरा देवी की 100वीं जयंती पर डाक टिकट जारी किया गया। गौरा देवी का जन्म 1924 में उत्तराखंड में हुआ था। उन्होंने 1974 में चिपको आंदोलन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई, जिसमें उन्होंने पेड़ों को बचाने के लिए ग्रामीणों को प्रेरित किया। यह डाक टिकट उनके पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति समर्पण को श्रद्धांजलि है और लोगों को पर्यावरण के प्रति जागरूक करेगा।
चिपको नेत्री गौरा देवी की 100 वीं जयंती रैणी गांव में धूमधाम से मनाई गई। बतौर मुख्य अतिथि वन मंत्री सुबोध उनियाल ने पौधरोपण कर गौरा देवी को याद किया। इस दौरान डाक विभाग की ओर से गौरा देवी के योगदान को जन-जन तक पहुंचाने के लिए डाक टिकट जारी करने के साथ ही विशेष आवरण का विमोचन भी किया गया।
शनिवार को गौरा देवी की कर्म भूमि रैणी में उनके जन्म शताब्दी के 100 साल पूरे होने पर नंदादेवी राष्ट्रीय पार्क प्रशासन द्वारा आयोजित कार्यक्रम में वनमंत्री सुबोध उनियाल ने पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए गौरा देवी के कार्यों को याद करते हुए कहा कि जिस तरह से गौरा देवी ने वनों को बचाने के लिए संघर्ष किया, उसी तरह पहाड़ की महिलाओं को भी वनों की रक्षा के लिए सदैव आगे रहना चाहिए। कहा कि यह कार्यक्रम देहरादून में भी आयोजित किया जा सकता था, लेकिन गौरा देवी का नमन करने के लिए इसे उनके कार्य भूमि में आयोजित किया गया। जन भावना को देखते हुए निश्चित तौर पर गौरा देवी को भारत रत्न दिए जाने की मांग को भारत सरकार तक पहुंचाने का कार्य किया जायेगा।
विधायक लखपत बुटोला ने गौरा देवी को भारत रत्न दिए जाने की पैरवी करते हुए कहा कि वनों को बचाने के लिए गौरा देवी के संघर्ष जितना महत्वपूर्ण था उतना उनको सम्मान नहीं मिला है। कहा कि पर्यावरण संरक्षण को लेकर सीमांत क्षेत्र के लोगों का योगदान विश्व का आइना दिखाने वाला था।
वक्ताओं ने कहा कि सत्तर के दशक में वनों को बचाने के लिए गौरा देवी के नेतृत्व में रैणी की महिलाओं के प्रयासों से पर्यावरण संरक्षण की दिशा में नागरिकों की सोच बदली , लेकिन आज गौरा देवी का गांव उपेक्षित है। यहां पर आपदा से स्वयं गौरा देवी का स्मारक ही छतिग्रस्त हो रहा है। गांव के नीचे भूस्खलन से गांव के अस्तित्व पर बनी है । सरकार को इस ओर ध्यान देना चाहिए ।
इस मौके पर प्रमुख वन संरक्षक वन्य जीव प्रतिपालक आरके मिश्रा, चीप पोस्ट मास्टर जनरल शशि शालिनी कुजुर, जिला पंचायत सदस्य आयुषी बुटोला, नगर पालिका अध्यक्ष देवेश्वरी शाह, गौरा देवी के पुत्र चंदन सिंह राणा, सोहन सिंह राणा, बाली देवी, उखा देवी, जुट्ठी देवी, कलावती देवी, मंगुली देवी सहित कई लोग मौजूद रहे।
