राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह (सेनि.) ने कहा कि उत्तराखंड में होम स्टे जैसी जनलाभकारी योजना के बाद अब होस्ट विलेज की दिशा में आगे बढ़ने की जरूरत है। उत्तराखंड के कई गांव पलायन के कारण घोस्ट विलेज बनते जा रहे हैं। उत्तराखंड में रिवर्स पलायन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए इन घोस्ट विलेज को होस्ट विलेज में बदलने की जरूरत है। राज्यपाल वीरचंद्र सिंह गढ़वाली उत्तराखंड औद्यानिक एवं वानिकी विवि भरसार के वानिकी महाविद्यालय रानीचौरी, नई टिहरी में भारतीय कृषि विश्वविद्यालय संघ (आईएयूए) की ओर से आयोजित सम्मेलन के उद्घाटन के अवसर पर बोल रहे थे।
भारत में कृषि-पारिस्थितिकी-पर्यटनः अवसर, चुनौतियां और आगे की राह विषय पर 14वें विचार-मंथन सत्र में 10 से अधिक राज्यों के कृषि विश्वविद्यालयों के कुलपति, कृषि वैज्ञानिक और विशेषज्ञ एग्रो इको टूरिज्म को लेकर चर्चा करने के लिए जुटे हैं। राज्यपाल ने कहा कि उन्होंने पीएम मोदी से उन्होंने अनुरोध किया कि उत्तराखंड के घोस्ट विलेज में जी शब्द हटाकर एच शब्द जोड़कर होस्ट करवाया जाए, जिससे यहां खुशहाली लौटे। इन गांवों में सड़क, बिजली, पानी और कनेक्टिविटी बढ़ाने की आवश्यकता है।
कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने वर्चुअल रूप से संबोधित किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पर्यटन ही उत्तराखंड की रीढ़ है। ऐसे में कृषि और पर्यटन का संगम उत्तराखंड की अर्थव्यवस्था को दोगनी गति प्रदान कर सकता है। पारिस्थिकी पर्यटन स्थानीय युवाओं को बढ़ावा देने के साथ ही पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों से पलायन को रोकने में भी कारगर साबित होगा।
कुलपति प्रो. परविंदर कौशल ने कहा कि 14वें विचार मंथन की मेजबानी करना विवि के लिए सुखद अनुभूति है। टिहरी विधायक किशोर उपाध्याय, प्रतापनगर विधायक विक्रम नेगी ने भी विचार व्यक्त किए। इस मौके पर पद्मश्री प्रेमचंद्र शर्मा, भारतीय कृषि संघ के अध्यक्ष प्रो. विजेंद्र सिंह, आईएयूए के सचिव डा. दिनेश कुमार, प्रो. एसपी सिंह, सीडीओ वरुणा अग्रवाल, डा. अरविंद बिजल्वाण, डा. एसपी सती, कीर्ति कुमारी आदि मौजूद रहीं।

कार्यक्रम के दौरान कृषि के क्षेत्र में अनुसंधानात्मक और उत्कृष्ट कार्य करने वाले किसानों को प्रगतिशील किसान सम्मान से पुरस्कृत किया गया। सम्मानित होने वालों में पौड़ी के यमकेश्वर ब्लाक की नमृता कंडवाल, उत्तरकाशी के भटवाड़ी ब्लाक के माधवेंद्र रावत, बागेश्वर के गरुड़ के चंद्रशेखर पांडे और टिहरी के रामकृष्ण डबराल शामिल हैं। कार्यक्र में विश्वविद्यालय के तीन प्रकाशन का विमोचन भी किया गया।
