मुख्यमंत्री  पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि जौलजीबी मेला क्षेत्र के आर्थिक एवं सांस्कृतिक विकास में बहुत महत्व रखता है। यह मेला भारत, नेपाल एवं तिब्बत के पारस्परिक व्यापार को बढ़ावा देता आ रहा है। यह मेला भारत एवं नेपाल के रिश्तों को ऑक्सीजन देने का काम करता है। मुझे प्रसन्नता है कि यह मेला भारत एवं नेपाल देश के बीच संस्कृति, सभ्यता के साथ-साथ व्यापारिक संबंधों को बढ़ाता आ रहा है। अपनी बचपन की यादों को ताजा करते हुए मुख्यमंत्री  धामी ने कहा कि वे बचपन से ही यहां के रीति-रिवाज और संस्कृति को देखते आ रहे हैं। उन्हें बचपन से ही इस मेले से बहुत लगाव रहा है। उन्होंने जनता द्वारा किए गए भव्य स्वागत पर आभार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि मैं आप लोगों का बेटा व भाई हूं। मैं जब भी यहां आया हूं मेरा हमेशा गर्मजोशी से स्वागत किया गया है, इसके लिए मैं आप सभी का आभार व्यक्त करता हूं तथा आप लोगों का भी हाथ जोड़कर स्वागत करता हूं!

मुख्यमंत्री  धामी ने सीमान्त क्षेत्र के विकास को लेकर अपने विचार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि हम मानते हैं कि सीमांत क्षेत्रों का ठीक प्रकार से विकास होना चाहिए, हम सीमांत क्षेत्रों में सभी योजनाओं के क्रियान्वयन के लिए दृढ़ संकल्पित है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी देश के सीमान्त गांवों के विकास के प्रति बहुत गंभीर है। अब देश के सीमान्त गांव देश के अंतिम गांव न होकर देश के पहले गांव होंगे, उनका संपूर्ण विकास हमारी प्राथमिकता में शामिल है। उन्होंने कहा कि हम जनपद के इस सीमान्त क्षेत्र के विकास के लिए काली नदी पर डबल लेन मोटर पुल का निर्माण कर रहे हैं, जिससे भारत और नेपाल देश के बीच व्यापारिक संबंधों को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। हम क्षेत्र में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग का भी निर्माण व चौड़ीकरण कर रहे हैं, इस क्षेत्र में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग के बन जाने से कैलाश मानसरोवर जाने वाले यात्री इसी मार्ग से होकर जाएंगे, जिससे व्यापार बढ़ेगा तथा क्षेत्र का विकास होगा। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हम क्षेत्र के आपदा प्रभावित एलधारा भूस्खलन क्षेत्र का ट्रीटमेंट वरूणावत पर्वत की तर्ज पर करेंगे। मुख्यमंत्री द्वारा इस अवसर पर जौलजीबी मेले हेतु रुपए 5 लाख दिए जाने एवं जौलजीबी संगम स्थल का सौंदर्यीकरण किये जाने की घोषणा की गई। मुख्यमंत्री ने संगम स्थल पर स्थित जालेश्वर महादेव मंदिर में पूजा अर्चना कर प्रदेश की खुशहाली की कामना भी की।
